Week 3 Homework Explanation and Example

1. Take the best design lineup (ALL 3 CHARACTERS) that you picked from and clean it up with linework. Make the changes we suggested and any changes you deem fit for cleanup.

2. Start thumbnailing and generating ideas for your prop, REMEMBER we are looking for a vehicle prop so think of the common method of transport within the world and culture of your choosing. Use the similar method you used for characters to do ideas for the prop, try for at least 6 quick thumbnails! (We'll have examples later on the week)

SOME TIPS!
The inner lines can be broken and help show what overlaps to show spacial relation (see the folds on the clothing in the bottom drawing for reference).

To start, make small thumbnails! Make sure they're different from each others in terms of proportions and what shapes makeup the design.

You don't have to think a new and unique shape for each individual one, you can reuse from your established designs and warp, transform, stretch, etc. to get a new and interesting design.

Also, try bashing design together and see what new shape combinations you can get accidentally! Think of them as modular, if you like a certain part of the prop but not something else, maybe cutting that part out and bashing another design below it could work? (check the arrows below to see the process)

Once again, happy designing!
